So. Remember how I said I'd be back when I finished uni? Well I finished it!! Got my Bachelor of Animation, and promptly collapsed from the burnout. I've made probably 2-3 small animations (including the new homepage welcome section which still needs some cleanup) and a handful of drawings since August, if that's any indication of how bad it's been TwT
But I'm finally (slowly) getting back into the swing of things. Since my last update, I moved house (immediately after my course was over btw), started whittling, got into CDs and other physical media, homebrewed my 3DS (added resources to the links page!) among many other things! Most of all I've just been taking it easy while I ride out the burnout. I still have to finish off my showreel so I can start applying to animation studios, but I'm giving myself until August so I have up to a full year to just relax before plunging back in to burnout-laden territory.
My partners parents have invited us to the UK in June, which means a lot of saving up BUT!! I'll finally be able to go overseas for the first time!! Her parents are paying for the flights and accommodation for the two weeks we'll be with them, so we just have to save up enough for general spending and the last week of accommodation. The pros of one of us having upper middle-class parents lmao
In more furry news, I got a boingy tail!! I went to the local furmeet last week to show it off and got tons of compliments :3
This has prompted me to try and get a full or mostly-full suit of my creaturesona, which needless to say will be pricey but I think I've found a way to keep it somewhat affordable. If I were to commission someone local (which I absolutely would if I could afford it) it'd run me $10k AUD for a full suit, or roughly $2-4k for just a head.
I've never had more than $7k at once in my life and that was when I saved for top surgery. My only real option is to make the head myself, but I know I'll probably give up if/when the base doesn't turn out perfect or if I take a break for more than a few days. So instead I'm gonna commission a custom 3D printed base, so it'll be lightweight and breathable with a movable jaw, and then I'm gonna buy fur and stuffing from a local fabric store and work from there :]
I've already got paws, and if I end up getting legs and feetpaws I've found a white set for $300 that I plan to dye, or worst case I'll ask the maker for a custom one. Regardless, the whole suit including the stuff I already have will be roughly $1k at most! I'm very excited and can't wait to get started >:3
Anyway, thank you for reading this far! I should be coming back to the site now, probably just in little ways at first. But I do have bigger plans for it that I hope to get around to before I get too busy with studio work, and I've been getting very rare shifts at work lately so I have the schedule of an unemployed person which is a blessing and a curse. It means I'll be able to spend more time on fun stuff like this, however. Broke </3
