27/1/24 -- A Wii Adventure

So, as of writing it's almost been a week since my last site update. That's because I finally got a Wii!! I haven't had one since I was 11, so I was super happy when it arrived, and it's been consuming a lot of my time since ;w;

I of course had to check out some of the games I had held onto, but after messing around a bit, I had to homebrew it so I could play games I'd never had, which turned out to be a little more complicated than I was expecting. I got it done in about a day though, but hit a bit of a roadblock with getting games a) onto the SD card, and b) added to the main menu as channels.

I found out the hard way that the Wii can only handle SD cards up to 32GB... which I only discovered after buying a 64GB SD card ;-;
I then proceeded to find out that SD cards formatted to FAT32 (the only format the Wii will accept) can't have files bigger than 4GB transferred onto them at one time, so,, yeah, just a lot of really cool news in a row :'D

After a crazy long process I finally managed to add all the games I've got so far as channels in the main menu and make them function like proper channels, which was a huge pain in the ass but super worth it. I also got RiiConnect24, which is a fan-renewed version of the WiiLink24 system that gave the Wii its online community stuff!! The first thing I did was check out the Mii Contest channel, which had a few really cute contest prompts (looking at all the Pomnis) :3

That's basically what my past week has been, not including the impromtu pizza parties at work and waiting on an AV adapter so we can actually use the Wii on our normal TV (instead of the shitty wall-mounted one that came with the apartment). We're also waiting for a bunch of Wii accessories so my roommates and I can actually play together ;w;
I've been slowly but surely making progress on the OC hub page, and have just a couple last things I wanna do before launching it! I've only made one page within it so far, but more are sure to follow!

Check back soon!!
